At the start of the 2011-12 academic year, the West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics implemented interactive digital guides for all Mountaineer athletic programs.
Built and designed for web browsers, iPad tablets, iPhones and Android devices, the digital guides offer exclusive videos, extensive photography and historical information that showcase the rich tradition of West Virginia University athletics to fans, student-athletes, parents and media.
"The NCAA's decision that printed media guides could no longer be utilized in the recruitment of student-athletes coupled with the ever-changing digital world made us re-evaluate the way we showcased our programs to a variety of audiences," said West Virginia University Sports Publications Director Joe Swan. "Through the collaborative efforts of our Sports Communications staff, Mountaineer Sports Network producers and graphic design partners, we came up with a virtual experience that provides a unique look at Mountaineer sports."
These digital guides replace the traditional printed media guides, with the exception of football and men's and women's basketball. Those sports will continue to have both publications. Guides for all Mountaineer sports can now be viewed on
www.WVUSports.com throughout the course of the year.
